Demons Were Here.

April 25th, 2008

I obviously watched a lot of Supernatural over the course of a month or so. I have the first two seasons on DVD and since it was on hiatus because of the strike, I couldn’t get my weekly fix of new episodes. Like any fan of television would do, I took the two unopened seasons from the shelf and started from the very beginning.

I watched, and watched, then watched some more, sometimes two or three episodes a day taking in all the lore, danger and supernatural dealings Sam and Dean, the two demon hunting brothers came across. In essence training myself to recognize the signs and then know the steps to kill them. Finally the day came when I could take all this knowledge and use it practically.

It started yesterday, just like any other day of the week. I got up and went to work expecting nothing out of the ordinary to happen. Another supervisor comes up to me and says there is a funky smell coming from register one. I couldn’t imagine what it could be, we don’t usually have unusual odors emanating at the registers, unless the trash can has enough old coffee and soda in it to warrant haz-mat suits upon take out.

I walk up there confident that I would be able to figure out what was going on. I step out onto the sales floor and I smell it. The distinct smell of sulfur, an odor from Hell. The odor was so thick it burned the nose and throat. I immediately go into demon hunting mode, looking around at the people around me. Nothing unusual.

As I walk up, the odor gets stronger until I reach the registers. It was so thick I could almost see the sulfur in the air. It had to be around here somewhere, or maybe it had vanished. I’m told that it was coming from register one so I go and investigate. I knew it couldn’t be the register because computers have no sulfur in them, and upon smelling the register; I couldn’t detect any odor coming from the vents from any of the computers.

I was instructed to call Store Support. Fine, but I knew it was something else, more sinister than anything coming from a register, even though at times ,I believe they were conceived in Hell. To this very day, the odor is still a mystery. Where did it come from? Anyone else not attuned to the supernatural may be fooled, but I’m not.
