GameFly or Netflix

May 3rd, 2008

This was going to be one of those posts where I talked about how I had this great idea for a post and then abruptly forgot when I sat down at my computer. Thankfully, I remembered what I was planning on writing about. My Mom says if you forget and then eventually remember it’s not Alzheimer’s. This post is proof positive that I don’t have Alzheimer’s.

Anyway, GameFly. For the last couple of months I subscribed to GameFly and had some fun with it, but they continue to send me games that are not high on my GameQ. Sure the games I want are ones that were released when the Xbox 360 launched, but I would think these would be in vast supply as anyone who wanted to play them already has. This apparently isn’t the case. So I wait and and play No More Heroes and MySims. Actually I’m not playing either of those because Mario Kart Wii and GTA IV were released and that’s been sucking away any gaming time I’ve set aside.

I ask myself, and yes I actually had a conversation in my head about this, “Why am I spending $22 for something I won’t use for a month or two?” This got me thinking that maybe I would cancel my subscription to GameFly before I start earning reward dollars and try out Netflix for a couple of months. Then switch back to GameFly for a couple of months. As it stands, I don’t want to spend the money for both, it would take up too much time and money.

The decision was made earlier this evening that tomorrow I will cancel GameFly and go with Netflix. I feel good about it and can’t wait to start watching a ton of movies.
