Camcorder Order
May 4th, 2008
The plan for today was to purchase a video camera. This wasn’t going to be just any video camera, but the Sony HDR-SR12 a 120GB HDD HD camcorder with a lot of great bells and whistles. I had the money saved but I was planning on taking advantage of Best Buy’s 18 months no interest when I use my Best Buy card.
The problem was, I knew it wasn’t available in stores and is currently backordered online. That wasn’t going to stop me, but when I went online I found out they were not offering the 18 month financing. I don’t need the financing but it’s nice to have for whatever reason. I decided I was not going to worry about it and buy it anyway and put it on my Amazon.com card. That way I get points towards amazing rewards and points with my Best Buy Reward Zone card.
It was time to head off to church, so I stopped and didn’t buy it that moment. As I continued to think about it, I remember that Best Buy sends me, on occasion 12% off coupons when I use my Reward Zone card. That would be a savings of $156. What I don’t know is if I’m able to use those coupons on online purchases. I might be able to use them if I ordered online through the store, but I still don’t know if they can only be used on in stock items and not on backorder items. Coupons can be such a pain in the neck.
Then I started thinking which credit card I should put it on. Now, do get the wrong idea about me and credit cards. I would immediately pay it off, but I might as well accrue points for something. There was a part of me that wanted to open up the Alaska Airline Miles Card that my Mom has been wanting me to open for awhile now. Then I thought about opening an American Express for the extended warranty they offer including other great consumer benefits. What about the old standby, Amazon.com? There are so many decisions that need to be made regarding this purchase. I don’t spend this much money very often so I have to find the right benefit for me. I’m still giving it some thought, but by the end of the week, I will have my decision.
