A busy day.
May 6th, 2008
Today was busier than I had anticipated. First, I wanted to make sure I finished justjason.com. Then I wanted subscribe to Netflix. Finally I had to go to work. So how did it all go? Bumpy.
I awoke around 7am and immediately began work on justjason.com. This is a really simple video-blog with only two links and three graphics. The amount of CSS in this blog is astoundingly small, the smallest I have ever written. The great thing about it was it was really quick to put together. I think I agonized longer on my logo than it actually took me to code the entire blog and WordPress it. The blog has no archives, tags, comments, categories, about pages, search, nothing. It only consists of my latest Viddler video and links to The Disney Fun Club and here.
There was one small mishap that put me about an hour behind. When I was FTPing the style sheet to my server, I accidentally uploaded it to The Disney Fun Club instead of justjason overwriting The Disney Fun Club style sheet. Being the idiot I am, I never backed up that style sheet, so I had to go back and rebuild all the links and colors. The only saving grace of the whole event was that I used the AnotherRobot theme, so I didn’t have to rebuild the entire style sheet from scratch. Regardless, it took about 45 minutes to an hour to get it back to how it was.
Throughout my time working on justjason.com, I called to get my account number for my new Visa because I wanted to use it to subscribe to Netflix. I called them up and after verifying every aspect of my personal life, the woman over the phone gave it to me. I went onto Netflix and began the process of becoming a member. Then I came to the page where I had to enter in my account information. There was one thing I was missing, the expiration date on the card. I called back and tried to no avail to get that information. To let you know, because of security reasons they can’t give that information out. It didn’t matter, I guessed what it likely was and the card was accepted and they’ll be mailing my three movies tomorrow.
After the long ordeal with my blogs and subscribing to Netflix, I still had to go to work at 12:00pm. By this time I was exhausted and there was a regional visit we were frantically preparing for. Thankfully, the visit was cancelled, but I still had a lot of work to do. I have the prime distinction of being in charge of the Clearance area. To be perfectly honest, I hate clearance. It is the messiest and most shopped place in the store and people have little to no regard in keeping it clean. However, it’s a challenge and one that I’m good at so I go ahead and deal with it the best I can. Sometimes it’s frustrating and sometimes it’s a nice escape. That is what I did all day.
Finally, I am home and I can relax, eat something, drink a lot of milk because I am seriously thirsty after the pizza I had for dinner. Then I can fall asleep and awake to another day of hard labor. See you tomorrow.
