Greatest Service on Earth!
May 9th, 2008
I just received my first order of DVD’s from Netflix. Why does this make them the greatest service on Earth? Well, I ordered them on Tuesday, they mailed them Wednesday and I received them on Thursday. So? That was fast, freakishly fast. When I read in their FAQ that most of their subscribers received their movies within on day, I was skeptical. I find out there was no need for this skepticism.
What movies did I get? Showboy, Meet the Robinsons and Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium. I watched Showboy and Meet the Robinsons last night and I will watch Mr. Magorium’s tonight. Showboy, was alright, it’s about Christian Taylor, freshly fired from Six Feet Under and now trying to make it as a Showboy in Vegas. There were funny moments as he attempts to go on auditions and take dance classes, but overall I wouldn’t make a special trip to rent it.
Meet the Robinsons, the Disney animated features was awesome. All Disney movies, especially the animated ones usually have a message, this one was no exception. Well, except this one was insanely in your face, not that it was a bad thing. In fact, it was inspiring. The message was, don’t let failure get you down, keep moving forward. I was literally in tears, on the verge of sobbing by the end of it. I actually may buy this movie. I still have one more movie I have to purchase in order to reach my membership requirement for the Disney Movie Club.
Netflix’s only downfall is that I can’t take advantage of their watch instantly over the Interent service because I suffer from having chosen the best computing platform in existence, the Mac. They stupidly only support PC. Maybe in the future they will realize they made a massive error and will begin supporting the Mac platform. Until then, I suppose I’m stuck with DVD’s. Does this hinder my enjoyment of Netflix? Absolutely not. I recommend it to everyone.
