Stepped Down But Not Out
June 12th, 2008
It appears that I won’t be a supervisor anymore. This is exactly what I wanted as the supervisory position that I would be moving into would probably be the most boring job on the planet. I would basically do nothing but train employees and oversee the cash wrap and fitting room. Since we don’t hire often, I wouldn’t be training much. In addition to the job being excruciatingly boring, I would have had to open up my Sunday availability and do a ridiculous amount of closing shifts. All of which would make me the most miserable person on the planet.
With that, I talked to our new store manager and I, in 30 days will be moving out of the position as supervisor. Sure there is a substantial pay cut, but I will be making the same as I did prior to me getting the promotion and remaining full time. Remaining full time was the priority over everything because of the insurance and PTO.
So, what will I be doing? I will begin merchandising the women’s department. This is a role I took on a couple of years ago with, I believe, less than stellar results. I suppose it depends on who you ask. Anyway, I am going to give it another try and I hope, from my point of view, it goes better this time around.
